The Purple Guy Animatronic is an urban legend which circulated the community shortly after the release of Five Nights at Freddy's 2 in 2014. The animatronic would supposedly rarely flash for a single frame in the position that Withered Golden Freddy would take in the office.
Appearance[]
The animatronic mostly a recolored version of Withered Golden Freddy. His body and head are entirely purple. The suit has bald circular head with a mouth similar to the Toy animatronics. The suit has a golden security badge on the left side of his chest. His chest is also covered in splatters of blood.
He holds a purple phone in his hand which references the theory that William Afton was the phone guy in FNaF1 and 2.
History[]
RoXo1987's first video showing the character is titled "Five Nights at Freddy's 2: PURPLE MAN / PHONE GUY FOUND! Gameplay footage!" and was uploaded on November 16th, 2014. In the video, the Purple Guy Animatronic flashed up for a single frame and the player later died without an animatronic actually jumpscaring them. The Five Nights at Freddy's jumpscare sound can be heard as the gameplay cuts to static.
The second video is titled "Five Nights at Freddy's 2: THE PURPLE MAN AGAIN!" and was uploaded on November 22nd, 2014. In the video, the Purple Guy Animatronic can be seen appearing whilst the player has the mask on similar to Toy Bonnie. Text can be read on the death static which says "IT IS ME". Whilst playing the Foxy Go! Go! Go! minigame, the Purple Guy sprite from the SAVETHEM minigame can be seen layered over the curtain.
The third video is titled "FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY'S 2: PURPLE MAN PLUSHIE UNLOCKED!" and was uploaded on February 28th, 2015. The video is an edit of a Purple Guy Animatronic plushie on the desk. Near the end of the video, there is a jumpscare from another one of RoXo1987's hoaxes, Purpletrap.
The fourth video is titled "WARNING! FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY'S 4: NIGHTMARE PURPLE MAN REVEAL VIDEO" and was uploaded on May 24th, 2015. The video shows a supposed teaser of a Nightmare variant of the Purple Guy Animatronic. Near the end of the video, the Nightmare Purple Man's mouth opens wide as the Five Nights at Freddy's 3 camera static sound effect plays.

- How the original image was composed isn't exactly fully known, but there is some speculation:
- The body is taken from Withered Golden Freddy and was colored purple.
- The head is likely a merge of other withered animatronic heads.
- The security badge is likely a stock photo which had "Security" written onto it in black text.
- RoXo1987 uses the Purple Guy Animatronic as his mascot and posts about the hoax on his Twitter.
- This hoax made a cameo in RoXo1987's fake FNaF3 trailer.
- RoXo1987 uploaded a video which supposedly showed a Purple Man plushie in the Fun with Plushtrap minigame in Five Nights at Freddy's 4.
